India Asserts Sovereignty: Rejects China’s Claims In New ‘Standard Map’
- The map also shows that China owns parts of the South China Sea and Taiwan.
- In the western part of the Sino-Indian border, Depsang and Demchok are still not fully disengaged.
China made claims to land in its “standard map” for 2023, which came out on Monday. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied these claims. Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin, which India says are part of its land, were shown on the map as being in China. China calls the first one “South Tibet,” and during the 1962 war with India, it took control of Aksai Chin.
“We have sent a strong protest to China today through diplomatic channels about the so-called “standard map” of China from 2023 that claims India’s land,” In a press statement, Arindam Bagchi, the Ministry of External Affairs’ official spokesperson, said
“We don’t believe these claims because they aren’t true. Bagchi also said, “Such moves by China only make it harder to solve the boundary question.”
The map also shows that China owns parts of the South China Sea and Taiwan.
China’s rights to land were also disputed by India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. “China has even put out plans in the past that claim lands that don’t belong to China but do belong to other countries. This is something they have always done. It’s not something brand-new. It began in the 1950s,” he told reporters at an event.
“We know exactly where our territory is. This government knows exactly what we need to do to protect our regions. On our edges, you can already see that. I don’t see how that could be questioned. “Making crazy claims does not give you the right to other people’s land,” he added.
China and India have been talking up the end of their border dispute, which has been going on since 2020. This move comes at the same time. In the western part of the Sino-Indian border, Depsang and Demchok are still not fully disengaged.
