The government told the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that 41,606 women are part of the Central Armed Police Forces, which include the CRPF, the BSF, and the CISF. Nityanand Rai, the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, said that steps were being taken to make it easier for women to join the Central Armed Police Forces.
In writing answer to a question, he said, “There are currently 41,606 women working for the Central Armed Police Forces and the Assam Rifles (AR).”
It is made up of the Border Security Force (BSF), the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), the National Security Guard (NSG), and the Assam Rifles (AR). Together, they have about 10 lakh members.
The minister said that large-scale hiring drives are being held by using print and internet media to get the word out. Applying for a job does not cost women anything.
