The Indian Army will construct Army Design Bureau (ADB) cells at command headquarters to boost Atmanirbharta (self-reliance).

The army announced on Thursday (4 April) that this organizational restructure will absorb specialty technology for capabilities growth.

The army stated, “Organisational and procedural transformation will be undertaken to ensure induction/absorption of niche technology towards futuristic capability development with a focus on Atmanirbharta.”

The new command headquarters cells are meant to empower unit commanders and increase industry outreach for specialized technology identification and trials.

The biennial Army Commanders’ Conference passed the decision to establish these cells on 2 April.
