The Swavlamban Shakti 2024 Exercise, a large-scale joint manoeuvre and live-fire exercise, was conducted by the Indian Army at the Babina Field Firing Range near Jhansi. Armoured and mechanized infantry, artillery, air defense systems, and advanced aviation assets are all included in this integrated exercise. It underscored the increasing collaboration among the armed forces, national R&D organizations, and the domestic defense industry to enhance military capabilities.
The exercise was centered on the integration of Indigenous Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems, which encompassed state-of-the-art drones, satellite communication platforms, and real-time data processing technologies. The tactical and operational requirements of contemporary warfare will be reflected in the demonstration of autonomous systems, advanced weapons, and smart ammunition.
The exercise underscores India’s effort to achieve self-reliance in defense technology, as it involves the participation of over 50 new technology equipment (NTEs) from over 43 industry partners, including Tata Advanced Systems Ltd, Bharat Forge, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), and defense sector startups.
The coordinated deployment of air assets, specialist vehicles, and armored vehicles in simulated combat scenarios is the centerpiece of Swavlamban Shakti 2024. These drills illustrated the manner in which the Indian Army is incorporating new technologies into its operational art and warfighting strategy. The exercise concluded with a Static Equipment Display, which offered a detailed examination of the innovative defense platforms employed during the manoeuvres.
This exercise is essential in the Army’s adaptation to the changing landscape of multi-domain warfare, as it enhances its technology absorption efforts. The event is not only a demonstration of the Army’s readiness, but also a significant stride toward the enhancement of India’s indigenous defense capabilities.
