The CDS Reviews Operational Readiness At The India-China Border

General Anil Chauhan, Chief of the Defence Staff, visited forward areas along the Indo-China border in the Middle Sector, which is under the Indian Army’s Central Command, to assess operational readiness.

He was briefed on the region’s current security situation as well as ground imperatives, according to the Army.

The CDS interacted with troops on the ground and praised their professionalism and dedication, as well as inter-agency cooperation, according to a statement.

Chauhan also established a sapling in the area. The initiative, which coincides with ongoing afforestation efforts by the Indian Army’s IbexBde of Uttar Bharat Area, will contribute significantly to the drive for ecological conservation in the Himalayan Ranges, according to the Army.

Earlier in the day, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi warned against China’s “Grey Zone” tactics along the Line of Actual Control, stating that, while the situation on the countries’ border is currently stable, it is “not normal”.

While discussing the current situation along the northern borders, General Dwivedi stated that while diplomatic channels have shown encouraging signs, on-the-ground realities remain sensitive.

“China is establishing artificial settlements to alter the status quo and create gray zones. “We are fully prepared for their settlements and infrastructure developments,” he warned.

On the Indian side, the Army Chief emphasised the importance of border model villages under the Vibrant Villages Programme, a key initiative for developing remote areas along the border.
