Government Releases Gazette Honouring Gallantry Awards for Defence Heroes
Operation Sindoor Heroes Among Indian Armed Forces Recognized for Bravery

In a significant move to honor courage and dedication, the Government of India has issued an official gazette listing the latest recipients of gallantry awards for 2025. The recognition includes Indian Army and Indian Air Force personnel who have demonstrated exceptional bravery in the line of duty.
Notably, officers involved in Operation Sindoor, a recent high-risk military operation, have been singled out for their exemplary valor. Colonel Koshank Lamba and Lieutenant Colonel Sushil Bisht were awarded the Vir Chakra, India’s third-highest wartime gallantry award, for leading operations under extremely challenging conditions and successfully accomplishing mission objectives.
The Indian Air Force also received recognition, with Group Captain Ranjeet Singh Sidhu being honored for his outstanding leadership during complex aerial missions. Group Captain Animesh Patni earned accolades for commanding a Surface-to-Air Missile unit that neutralized threats while ensuring civilian safety.
Overall, the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, approved 127 gallantry awards and 40 distinguished service awards, celebrating acts of heroism and unwavering dedication across the armed forces and paramilitary units.
This gazette release not only acknowledges individual bravery but also reflects India’s ongoing commitment to honoring the sacrifices and extraordinary contributions of its defence personnel.
