Southern Command Participates in Massive ‘Trishul’ Exercise Across Thar Desert and Gujarat Coast
The tri-service military drill aims to boost joint combat readiness and strengthen coordination among the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

In a major show of strength and coordination, the Indian Army’s Southern Command has joined the ongoing ‘Exercise Trishul’, a large-scale military drill taking place simultaneously in the Thar Desert and along the Gujarat coastline.
The exercise is designed to test the operational synergy and combat readiness of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force under realistic battlefield conditions. It brings together mechanised forces, artillery units, fighter aircraft, and naval assets to simulate integrated operations across land, air, and sea.
Defence sources stated that the drill focuses on validating joint strategies for rapid deployment, precision targeting, and coordination in complex environments. The exercise also includes live-fire demonstrations, amphibious operations, and network-enabled warfare scenarios, reflecting India’s growing emphasis on integrated warfighting capabilities.
Officials from the Southern Command highlighted that ‘Trishul’ is part of India’s broader effort to ensure seamless inter-service coordination and enhance preparedness to counter any threat along the western borders. The drills are also seen as a reaffirmation of India’s ability to conduct multi-domain operations using cutting-edge surveillance and communication technologies.
The exercise will continue over the next several days, providing vital insights into operational efficiency and joint command execution – key pillars of India’s evolving defence doctrine.
