At an event on Tuesday at Siyom Bridge on Along-Yinkiong Road in Arunachal Pradesh, India’s defence minister Rajnath Singh gave the country 28 infrastructure projects from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) worth 724 crore. These projects will help improve infrastructure along the border between India and China.

The projects include the Siyom bridge, three roads, and three other projects in seven border states and union territories in the north and northeast.

Eight of these projects are in Ladakh, five are in Arunachal Pradesh, four are in Jammu and Kashmir, three are in Sikkim, Punjab, and Uttarakhand, and two are in Rajasthan. Also, three telemedicine nodes were opened, two in Ladakh and one in Mizoram.

In his speech, Singh said that the projects were proof that the Government and the BRO were working together to develop border areas. This was done to improve the operational readiness of the Armed Forces and to help the far-flung regions develop economically.

He said that the most important thing for the government, which is led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is to connect the border areas and help the people who live there get ahead.

Rajnath Singh said that the goal is to build a “New India” that is strong and self-reliant so that it can deal with challenges that may come up in the future because the world is always changing.

“There are a lot of fights going on in the world right now. India has never supported war. It’s what we do. Recently, when he said, “This is not the era of war,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought the world’s attention to this resolve.

We don’t want to go to war, but if we have to, we will fight. We are making sure that the Nation is safe from any danger. Our military is ready to go, and it’s good to see that the BRO is right there with them “he said.

The defence minister talked about how important it was for the BRO to build infrastructure in border areas to make the country safer.

“Recently, our forces were able to fight the enemy in the Northern sector and handle the situation with bravery and speed. This was made possible by the development of good infrastructure in the area. This gives us even more motivation to work on the development of far-flung areas.” “he said.

Singh praised the BRO for making sure that social and economic growth happens in remote areas. He said that improving infrastructure is a “game changer” for the people who live in border areas.

He said that the government is paying special attention to the North-Eastern region’s development, which has made the country’s security system stronger.

With the opening of these 28 projects, which were finished in 2022, BRO gave the country a total of 103 infrastructure projects that cost a total of 2,897 crore.

Singh opened 75 projects in Ladakh worth 2,173 crores in October of last year. At a cost of 2,229 crore, the BRO gave 102 projects like these to the country in 2021.

Singh praised the BRO for working hard and quickly on development projects in the last few years, even though the weather was bad and the locations were hard.
