Indian Tri-Services to Launch “Poorvi Prachand Prahar” Joint Military Exercise Along Eastern Border

The large-scale operation aims to boost synergy, coordination, and combat readiness among India’s Army, Navy, and Air Force in the eastern theatre.

India’s armed forces are set to conduct a major joint military exercise titled “Poorvi Prachand Prahar” along the country’s eastern borders, showcasing advanced interoperability and high-altitude warfare preparedness. The tri-services drill-combining the strength of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force-will simulate integrated combat operations across land, air, and maritime domains.

According to defence officials, the exercise will focus on testing joint operational doctrines, communication systems, and precision-strike capabilities in complex battlefield scenarios. It will also evaluate the seamless coordination of aerial surveillance, long-range artillery fire, and logistics support under realistic combat conditions.

The eastern sector, which includes key strategic regions of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, has witnessed increased military preparedness in recent years due to evolving regional dynamics. Through this exercise, the armed forces aim to ensure swift deployment, high mobility, and coordinated responses to emerging security challenges.

Senior commanders from the Eastern Command of the Army, Eastern Air Command, and Eastern Naval Command will oversee the exercise. The focus will remain on multi-domain integration, using advanced drones, fighter jets, artillery systems, and network-centric command platforms.

A defence spokesperson stated that “Poorvi Prachand Prahar is designed to validate India’s ability to carry out synchronized multi-service operations, reinforcing national security and operational dominance in the eastern theatre.”

The exercise will also serve as a platform for field testing indigenous systems and tactical innovations, aligning with India’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India) initiative.

By enhancing real-time information sharing, battlefield awareness, and coordination between services, the joint drill aims to fortify India’s deterrence capabilities and readiness posture along sensitive border regions.
