Indian Army Set to Acquire Made-in-India Portable Drone Jammers from Paras Defence
Chimera 200 to Boost India’s Tactical Defence Capabilities with Cutting-Edge Drone Jamming Technology

In a major step towards strengthening India’s defence technology, the Indian Army is poised to procure the Chimera 200, a portable drone jamming system developed indigenously by Paras Defence and Space Technologies Ltd. This state-of-the-art technology is capable of neutralizing combat drones within a 3km radius, offering a significant tactical advantage on the battlefield.
The contract, estimated at up to $3 million, comes under the Defence Ministry’s emergency procurement program, initiated after April’s Operation Sindoor along the Pakistan border. Paras Defence successfully tested the Chimera 200 in July, demonstrating its effectiveness to Indian Army veterans.
Designed and built in collaboration with Centum Electronics, the handheld device is compact-roughly the size of an office briefcase-allowing for rapid deployment in field operations. Each unit is priced at approximately $136,000, reflecting the advanced technology integrated into the system.
Amit Mahajan, Director of Paras Defence, highlighted the growing need for compact, agile defence solutions amid rising geopolitical tensions. The Indian Army’s move to adopt such systems signals a focus on modernizing tactical responses and enhancing operational readiness.
