India Put Spike ATGM Missiles In Ladakh, So They Know How Dangerous This Israeli Weapon Is
- India didn't just buy these missiles from Israel; instead, it negotiated with Israel for a transfer of technology so that India could make its own missiles.
- The Israeli company and Kalyani have started a business together in India called Kalyani Rafale Advanced Systems (KRAS). In this case, it would be easy for India to make this missile.
India has put the Spike missile in Ladakh because of the tensions with China, which have been going on for two years. Spike is a guided anti-tank missile that can instantly destroy any tank or armoured vehicle. This missile is so dangerous that all you have to do to fire it is aim at the target and let it chase it. It will do the rest on its own.
Spike is also called “Fire and Forget” because of this. It can also be fired from different platforms, which is its second best feature. The Spike can also be fired from launchers that are worn on the shoulder, from helicopters, and from tripods. Not only that, but it can be put on army tanks as well.
During a recent military exercise in Ladakh, this missile was seen on the shoulder of a soldier. In the recent Russo-Ukraine war, when America sent Javelin missiles to Ukraine, the world saw how powerful anti-tank missiles can be. The Spike anti-tank missile is thought to be more dangerous than the Javelin.
Spike ATGM to fire and forget missile
Spike is an Israeli guided anti-tank and anti-personnel missile that can be fired and then left alone. It has a High Explosive Anti-Tank Warhead with two charges (HEAT). It was made and planned by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, an Israeli company.
It can be carried by a person, fired from a vehicle, or dropped from a helicopter. Fire-and-forget technology used to lock the target on its launchers. Some of them attack their target from above, which is the tank’s weakest spot. All around the tanks are reactive armour plates that break when a missile hits, making the attack less powerful. In this case, the Spike missile attacks from above and does a lot of damage to the tank. Not only that, but there is also a version of this whose target can be changed after it has been fired. The missile has an infrared seeker that can see in the dark.
Spike NLOS most advanced missile
Rafale Advanced Defense Systems, the Israeli company that made the Spike missile, says that different versions of this system have been bought by 29 countries around the world. The Indian Air Force is buying these in the form of Spike NLOS. The most advanced version of the Spike family is Spike NLOS. In this case, NLOS stands for “no line of sight,” which means that it can be used at a long distance.
The range of the Spike NLOS is about 32 km, which is almost four times that of the US AGM-114 Hellfire, which is used on an Apache attack helicopter. Under Technology Transfer, there are also rumours that India may make its own Spike NLOS.
India in preparation for Spike’s technology transfer
Right now, only a small number of Spike NLOS Anti-Tank Guided Missiles are being ordered. Make in India will soon be able to make a lot of these missiles. The ground targets, tank regiments, and armoured vehicles of the enemy can be automatically targeted by the air-firing Spike. This makes NLOS jamming and other problems go away. Because of this, enemy tanks can be stopped from moving forward very quickly.
Why did India choose Spike over Javelin?
India has wanted anti-tank missiles that can be launched from the air for a long time. In 2011, India could go one of two ways. The first was the FGM-148 Javelin, which was made in the United States. The second was the Spike NLOS. India chose Spike because Israel was ready to share technology and make missiles in India, which fits with the Modi government’s “Make in India” plan.
India didn’t just buy these missiles from Israel; instead, it negotiated with Israel for a transfer of technology so that India could make its own missiles. The Israeli company and Kalyani have started a business together in India called Kalyani Rafale Advanced Systems (KRAS). In this case, it would be easy for India to make this missile.
How dangerous is America’s Javelin missile?
Even the most advanced tank in the world can’t stop the Javelin missile. This missile hits its target twice and destroys it. First, the missile explodes as soon as it hits the tank. Then, it uses more power to try to break through the armour.
The Javelin missile can destroy any tank, bunker, or armoured vehicle. It can also go after aircraft that fly low, like helicopters. Javelin missiles can be fired by Ukrainian soldiers who carry them on their shoulders and fire them from there. Other anti-tank systems, on the other hand, need a tripod to work.
