India and Armenia have taken a decisive step in fortifying their defence partnership with the successful conduct of a Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting in Hyderabad. The session highlighted mutual commitments to enhance defence cooperation, share expertise, and address regional security challenges.
The Indian delegation was led by Shri Vishwesh Negi, Joint Secretary (IC), Ministry of Defence, while the Armenian delegation was headed by Mr. Levon Ayvazyan, Head of the Policy and International Military Cooperation Department, Ministry of Defence of Armenia.
During the meeting, both nations discussed potential avenues for collaboration including joint military exercises, defence technology transfer, research initiatives, and strengthening industrial cooperation in the defence sector. The discussions also emphasized self-reliance and capacity-building in critical areas of defence production.
This Hyderabad meeting follows recent diplomatic engagements, including India’s participation in Armenia’s National Day celebrations on October 1, 2025, symbolizing the countries’ shared vision for regional stability and strategic partnership.
Officials on both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening ties, strengthening defence industrial collaboration, and promoting joint initiatives that contribute to broader regional security and cooperation.
