French Army Shows Strong Interest in Indian Long-Range Defense Systems

Post-Operation Sindoor, India’s missile and electronic warfare capabilities attract French military attention.

India’s advancements in long-range defense technologies have caught the eye of the French military. Following demonstrations of India’s Pinaka rocket system and other strategic weaponry during Operation Sindoor, the French Army is exploring closer collaboration with India.

General Pierre Schill, the French Army Chief, remarked on India’s growing prowess in precision strike systems, loitering munitions, and counter-drone operations, describing them as “highly effective and adaptable to modern battlefield requirements.”

Discussions between French and Indian defense officials are reportedly focusing on not just equipment purchases but also technology sharing in artificial intelligence (AI) for defense, electronic warfare, and joint operational training. The dialogue also includes potential joint exercises, aimed at refining UAV operations, counter-drone strategies, and other high-tech warfare techniques.

The engagement underlines a strengthening of Indo-French military ties, reflecting both nations’ interest in strategic collaboration and modernization of armed forces capabilities. Analysts see this as a step toward deeper partnership in areas beyond traditional defense procurement, embracing futuristic warfare technologies.
