The New Generation AKASH (AKASH-NG) weapon was successfully tested in the air by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) on Friday.

At 10:30 AM, the test was done from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, which is off the coast of Odisha, against a very low-level, high-speed robotic aerial target.

The Ministry of Defense says that during the flying test, the weapon system was able to hit and destroy the target.

“It has validated the functioning of the complete weapon system consisting of the missile with an indigenously developed radio frequency seeker, launcher, multi-function radar and command, control and communication system,” said it.

ITR, Chandipur used a number of radars, sensors, and electro-optical tracking systems to collect data that proved how well the system worked.

Senior officials from DRDO, the Indian Air Force (IAF), Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) were there to watch the flight test. The AKASH-NG system is a cutting-edge missile defense system that can jam fast-moving threats in the sky. The flying test went well, which made it possible for user trials to begin.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh praised the flying test and the work of the DRDO, IAF, PSUs, and industry.

“The country’s air defenses will be even better if the system is built successfully,” he said.

The Defence Research and Development Organization made the Akash missile system. It has been in use for more than ten years, and the Akash Team is currently working on several more advanced versions of the weapon.

More than that, some Middle Eastern countries are interested in the Akash weapon system and the recent testing that showed what it can do.

The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) created and built the Akash Weapon System. It is made by defense public sector units and other businesses.

For the past ten years, both the Indian Air Force and the Indian Army have used Akash. The current fire came from the system, which was given a new order by the IAF in September 2019.

One of the Indian defense systems that has won orders from people outside of India is the Akash weapon system. Scientists from DRDO are also always making it better, and they may get more orders from Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
