The Defense Ministry has given the go-ahead for the Indian Army to buy a company of Pralay tactical ballistic missiles, which can hit targets from 150 km to 500 km away. Senior defense officials say that this is the first time that a ballistic missile will be used in regular military activities.
The Pralay rockets are being made in large numbers right now, and the officials said that they should be ready for use soon.
According to what we know, getting these missiles is part of a larger plan to build a strategic rocket force. This is an idea that Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat has been pushing for.
Admiral R. Hari Kumar, the head of the Navy, recently said that General Rawat had been working on making a rocket force to fight enemies on the line. This new development comes after he said this.
The rocket was tested twice with success over two days in December, and since then, the forces have been working on getting it and putting it into use.
With a solid-propellant rocket motor and other new technologies, the Pralay missiles are likely to give the Indian Army’s offensive capabilities a big boost.
