Bulletproof jackets and bulletproof helmets are important parts of Indian soldiers’ battle gear because they are needed to protect them in modern war. Ministry of Defense, the safety of Indian troops on security duties is the most important thing. Notably, the Indian Defense Ministry has asked to use the latest design of “Veer” helmets made by MKU Limited.

The Veer helmets have been made to fit the needs of Sikh soldiers and can be worn over the traditional “Patka” that Sikh soldiers wear. The SCH 111 and SCH 112 helmets, also called the “Veer series” helmets, were made by the MKU to protect Sikh soldiers’ heads in all ways.

Also, the ballistic Veer helmet is designed to be light so that it can be worn for a longer time. The Indian Ministry of Defense said in a press release that the modern soldier needs full protection from “the newer and emerging threat of warfare.”

In May 2001, the government opened up the field of defence production to the private sector with the goal of increasing local production and making sure that defence production could be done on its own. Since then, more companies have entered the field, which has improved the country’s ability to modernise and make more of its own defence products. MKU Limited has made several important contributions to the Indian Army’s arsenal.

In March 2022, MKU was the first private defence company to receive the Transfer of Technology (ToT) of the T-90 Main Battle Tank driver night sight from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The DRDO decided to start a ToT with the MKU only after giving it a lot of thought. The goal was to give the Indian Army’s T-90s the MKU’s Netro TD-5100 Driver Night Sight.

The TD-5100 is called a smart solution for the Indian T-90s because it improves operational capabilities and situational awareness. Also, the Driver Night Sight can be used by other T-series tanks, BMPs, and armoured vehicles of the Indian Armed Forces.

MKU Limited signed another ToT with the DRDO and the Defence Bio-Engineering and Electro Medical Laboratory (DEBEL) on February 16, 2023, to start making Common Aircrew Helmets and Lightweight Integrated Aircrew Helmets in India. The step was seen as a big boost for India’s “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiative.

Notably, a Fighter Pilot and the rest of the air crew wear specific protective gear and clothes that are geared towards their mission. MKU, DEBEL, and the DRDO have decided to work together to make Integrated Aircrew Helmets because it is important to provide light weight solutions to the Indian Armed Forces and improve long endurance missions.
