Ukraine Launches Drone Attack On Moscow: Russian Defense Ministry Reports

Story Highlights
  • Reports say that another plane was shot down near the village of Valuevo, which is also close to the airport.
  • The drone attack on Tuesday comes after the Ukraine went on the offensive against Russia.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that Ukraine launched a drone attack on Moscow, which caused planes to be rerouted away from the Vnukovo International Airport.

Reports say that five drones were used in Tuesday’s attack, which also hit places outside of the city. The ministry said that all of the drones were shot down and that no one was hurt and no damage was done.

Ukraine has not said that it was behind the purported attack.

One of Moscow’s three major airports, Vnukovo Airport, no longer has any rules. Some flights from Turkey, the UAE, and Egypt were delayed.

The Defense Ministry says that air defense systems shot down four drones that were flying in the area around Moscow. A fifth was electrically stopped before it crashed.

“An attempt by the Kiev regime to attack a zone with civil infrastructure, such as an international airport, is a new terrorist act,” said Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for the Foreign Ministry, on Telegram.

State-run media in Russia said that one of the drones crashed in the town of Kubinka, which is about 36 km south-west of Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport.

Reports say that another plane was shot down near the village of Valuevo, which is also close to the airport.

The drone attack on Tuesday comes after the Ukraine went on the offensive against Russia.

Some people, like the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, had planned for this to move quickly and gain momentum. However, this has not happened yet.
