Tata Lockheed Martin Aerostructures Ltd said on Wednesday that it has reached a major milestone by delivering its 200th C-130J Super Hercules empennage. The company, which is a partnership between Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL) and Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, said that its empennages, which are the structures at the back of an airplane’s tail, are in C-130Js used by seven countries, including India.

It also said that Tata Lockheed Martin Aerostructures Ltd (TLMAL) is the only company in the world that makes C-130J empennage parts, which are put on all new US Super Hercules planes made in Marietta, Georgia.

“Today, we are very proud to have reached the important milestone of making the 200th C-130J empennage right here in India. Over the course of more than a decade, this relationship has led to unmatched excellence in manufacturing and operations, said Sukaran Singh, CEO and Managing Director of TASL.

Rod McLean, Vice President and General Manager of Lockheed Martin’s Air Mobility & Maritime tasks business line, said that each TLMAL-made empennage helps the powerful Super Hercules take off to support important tasks that save lives and change history.

The company said that its empennage assemblies include the horizontal and vertical stabilizers of the plane, as well as the leading edges and tip assemblies. The TLMAL team also used to make parts for the center wing boxes of older C-130 airplanes.
