Indian Army Ends 40-Hour-Long Encounter In Kulgam, Eliminates Three Terrorists
- Terrorists attacked an Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy in the Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir, killing one IAF member and hurting four others.
- Even though no terrorist group claimed credit for the attack on the IAF convoy, it is said that the people who did it seem to know a lot about the area's geography.
The Indian Army said that three terrorists, including Lashkar-e-Taiba wanted terrorist Basit Dar, were killed in a shootout with security forces in Kulgam district in south Kashmir on Thursday morning. The shooting began on Monday night and went on for almost 40 hours.
The army also got back some weapons and ammo that the terrorists had been using.
“A Joint Operation that began on the night of May 6th or 7th in the general area of Redwani Payeen, Kulgam, has ended after a watchful wait of about 40 hours.” The Indian Army wrote in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) that terrorists had been killed and war-like supplies had been recovered. This was another blow to the terror environment.

It also said, “The Chinar Corps is still dedicated to keeping Kashmir peaceful and quiet.”
Terrorists and security forces fought fiercely in the Redwani Payeen area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam on the night between Monday and Tuesday. After this, the Indian army and the police in Jammu and Kashmir worked together to stop the attack.
Basit Dar, one of the terrorists who was killed, was involved in more than 18 crimes, such as planning attacks on minorities and killing police officers and innocent people. As of last year, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) offered a ₹10 lakh prize for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Basit Dar in the killing of two foreign workers in Kulgam in 2021. Dar was also given a non-bailable warrant.
Also earlier this month, terrorists attacked an Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy in the Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir, killing one IAF member and hurting four others. Reports say that the convoy was the last of three trucks going from Jaranwalli Gali to Shahistar Top, which is where the IAF has a base.
It is said that about 200 shots were fired at the car over the course of 15 minutes.
Even though no terrorist group claimed credit for the attack on the IAF convoy, it is said that the people who did it seem to know a lot about the area’s geography.
