INS Sahyadri Touches Down in Japan for JAIMEX 25, Boosting India-Japan Naval Cooperation

The Indian Navy’s INS Sahyadri has reached Yokosuka, Japan, to join the Japan-India Maritime Exercise (JAIMEX 25), a key bilateral naval exercise that highlights the growing strategic partnership between India and Japan. The two-day drills, conducted off the coast of Kyushu, aim to strengthen interoperability, tactical coordination, and maritime security in the Indo-Pacific.

INS Sahyadri, under the command of Capt. Rajat Kumar, was formally welcomed by senior Japanese naval officials and diplomatic representatives. The exercise involves multiple Japanese naval assets, including JS Asahi, JS Oumi, and a submarine, alongside support from Japan’s Ground and Air Self-Defense Forces.

JAIMEX 25 focuses on complex naval maneuvers, search and rescue operations, and joint tactical exercises, reflecting a shared commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. Such engagements underscore the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between the two nations and demonstrate their capability to operate seamlessly in high-stakes maritime scenarios.
