Indian Navy Chief Admiral Tripathi Visits Sri Lanka to Enhance Maritime Cooperation
Strengthening Defence Ties and Regional Security in the Indian Ocean

In a move to reinforce regional maritime security and bilateral naval relations, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) of India, embarked on a four-day official visit to Sri Lanka starting September 22, 2025.
During his stay, Admiral Tripathi is scheduled to engage with top Sri Lankan leaders and defence officials, focusing on collaborative initiatives in maritime operations, joint training exercises, and strategic maritime planning. The visit underscores India’s commitment to close defence and security cooperation with its neighbouring nations.
A key component of the trip is Admiral Tripathi’s participation in the 12th Galle Dialogue 2025, a prominent international forum that brings together naval experts and policymakers to discuss emerging maritime challenges and opportunities in the Indian Ocean. The conference will address issues such as maritime safety, regional security frameworks, and collaborative naval strategies.
The Indian Navy’s stealth frigate, INS Satpura, will also be part of the visit, engaging in professional drills and knowledge exchanges with the Sri Lanka Navy. These engagements highlight India’s efforts under the “Neighbourhood First” and SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) initiatives to maintain strong, peaceful, and cooperative maritime relations in the region.
This visit is expected to strengthen mutual trust, enhance defence preparedness, and promote sustained collaboration between the navies of India and Sri Lanka.
