India is going to send an in-house anti-air system to Armenia. This is another item that India is sending to the Asian country. Other items include multi-barrel rocket launchers, artillery guns, a variety of ammunition, and drones.

As part of a deal worth about ₹6,000 crore, sources say that deliveries of the Akash anti-air systems made by Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) will likely begin soon. The indigenous system is already being used by the Indian Armed Forces. Vietnam and the Philippines can also buy it.

In April, the defense ministry talked about an unspecified export order for the anti-air system, but it didn’t say which country would be getting it. Two more regiments of the air defense system were bought by the Army in March in a deal worth ₹8,160 cr.

The Defense Research and Development Organization designed and built the better version of the system, which has a smaller footprint, the ability to engage in all directions, and more advanced seekers. 82% of the system is made in India, and 60% of the project cost is given to private businesses, including small and medium-sized businesses, to keep the supply chain going.

Last November, Kalyani Strategic Systems announced a deal for $155 million worth of artillery guns with a foreign customer that they did not name. This order was also for Armenia.
