According to the Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD), the indigenous ‘Zorawar’ light tank, developed by India’s state-owned Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has begun initial testing on 13 September.
The tests took place in a desert region that is said to be located in India’s northwestern state of Rajasthan. The tank successfully fulfilled all of its objectives during the trials.

The DRDO and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) revealed the first prototype of the Zorawar light tank in July.
According to the DRDO Chairperson Samir V Kamat, initial tests of the tank will be conducted by both DRDO and L&T by early 2025, followed by trials with the Indian Army. Kamat further stated that the DRDO anticipates the tank to be inducted into the Indian Army by 2027.
