IAF Showcases Air Power in Guwahati: Rafale, Sukhoi and Surya Kiran Dazzle at 93rd Anniversary Air Show

The Indian Air Force marked its 93rd anniversary with a spectacular air show in Guwahati, featuring advanced aircraft, aerobatic displays, and the presence of top dignitaries.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) celebrated its 93rd anniversary with a historic event in Guwahati – the first-ever full-scale air show to be held in the North-East region. The skies over the city came alive with thrilling aerial formations and high-speed manoeuvres, as India’s most powerful aircraft took flight in a dazzling display of strength and precision.

The grand event was graced by Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, who together commended the IAF for its remarkable service to the nation and its continued commitment to safeguarding India’s airspace.

A wide array of aircraft – including Rafale, Sukhoi, Apache, MiG, Mirage, Jaguar, C-17 Globemaster, IL-78 air refueler, C-130 Hercules, Antonov AN-32, and Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) MK1 – performed breathtaking aerial manoeuvres during the event. The Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team added to the spectacle with its mesmerizing synchronized formations, painting the Guwahati sky with the colors of precision and pride.

The aircraft participating in the show operated from seven major air bases across the Eastern region – Guwahati, Tezpur, Jorhat, Chabua, Hasimara, Bagdogra, and Panagarh. The large-scale coordination between these bases underscored the strategic importance of the North-East for India’s air defence network.

Addressing the gathering, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh highlighted the significance of hosting the air show in Guwahati, calling it a tribute to the people of the North-East and a symbol of the IAF’s ever-growing connection with citizens across India. He reaffirmed the Air Force’s readiness to meet any challenge and its ongoing efforts toward modernization and technological advancement.

The Guwahati air show not only marked a milestone for the Indian Air Force but also offered citizens a rare opportunity to witness India’s aerial might up close. The celebration reflected the IAF’s motto – Touch the Sky with Glory – and its 93-year legacy of courage, professionalism, and excellence.
