IAF And Army’s Joint Exercise In The Central Sector

Story Highlights
  • The IAF did the two jobs at the same time. China has been increasing its footprint in the Indian Ocean, which is mostly thought of as the Indian Navy's back yard.
  • After buying Sukhoi jets from Russia 23 years ago, this is India's first big purchase of fighter planes since then.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Indian Army did a joint drill in the central sector with the use of many combat assets to test how ready the two forces are to do their jobs. The drill comes after the IAF sent Rafale and Su-30MKI jets on two important missions over the Indian Ocean region.

“The Indian Air Force and the Indian Army just finished a joint drill in the central area. “Multiple combat assets were used to give all participants a realistic experience of battle,” the IAF tweeted on Sunday.

It did not, however, say when or where the surgery would take place.

A few days ago, a group of IAF Su-30MKI jets did a strategic mission over the Indian Ocean for eight hours. This was similar to what four Rafale jets did a few days earlier.

Thursday, the Su-30MKI jets flew over the South Western part of the Indian Ocean to show how well they could operate and how well they could do long-range tasks.

Last month, the Rafale fighter plane went on a six-hour flight that covered the eastern part of the Indian Ocean.

The Rafale jets can carry a wide variety of powerful weapons.
