Hamas Reports Death Of Captive Israeli Soldier In Confrontation With Special Forces

Hamas’s armed wing said early Friday that an Israeli soldier who was being held hostage was killed in a fight between the militants and an Israeli special forces unit that was trying to save the soldier.
After Al-Qassam Brigades fighters found out about the rescue operation, they fought back and killed and hurt some Israeli soldiers who were part of the operation, but they didn’t say how many.
They told them that the soldier who was killed was Sa’ar Baruch, who was 25 years old, and gave him a number.
A request for comment from the Israeli Defense Forces was not answered right away.
Late in October, Israel freed a soldier who was being held hostage in Gaza, and the government has said that similar operations could be used to free any other hostages that are still held.
