DRDO, Indian Navy Carry Out Surface-To-Air Missile Test Successfully

On Thursday, the Indian Navy and DRDO conducted a successful flight test of a short-range surface-to-air missile, launched vertically from the coast of Odisha.
The trial run took place using a ground-based vertical launcher, aiming at a swiftly moving airborne target flying close to the ground.
According to the Defence Ministry, the target was effectively tracked and engaged by the missile system. The Indian Navy and DRDO carried out a flight test of the Vertical Launch Short Range Surface-to-Air Missile (VL-SRSAM) from Chandipur’s Integrated Test Range in Odisha’s coastal region, successfully.

According to the ministry, the test’s purpose was to confirm the functionality of various upgraded components of the weapon system, such as the proximity fuse and seeker.

Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister, commended the DRDO and Indian Navy teams for their accomplishment. He emphasized that this successful test further solidifies the dependability and prowess of the VL-SRSAM weapon system.
Chairman of the DRDO, Samir V Kamat, extended his congratulations to the teams involved, stressing that the system will greatly improve the operational capabilities of the Indian Navy and act as a force multiplier.
