Adani Group in Advanced Talks to Acquire Pilot Training Leader FSTC

Acquisition would mark Adani’s major entry into India’s fast-growing commercial pilot training sector.

The Adani Group is reportedly negotiating a major acquisition in the aviation training sector, with discussions underway to take over Flight Simulation Technique Centre (FSTC) – one of India’s leading independent pilot training organisations. The deal is expected to be executed through Horizon Aero Solutions, a joint venture of Adani Defence Systems & Technologies and Prime Aero.

If the acquisition materialises, it will significantly strengthen Adani’s presence in the aviation ecosystem. FSTC operates some of the most advanced pilot training facilities in the country, including full-flight simulators in Gurugram, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. The company also runs multiple flight schools and provides training for both commercial airline pilots and defence personnel.

Industry experts believe this move aligns with the growing demand for cockpit crew in India’s expanding aviation sector. With airlines adding new aircraft and pilot training hours becoming increasingly regulated, companies with simulator infrastructure have gained tremendous strategic value.

Financially, FSTC has demonstrated strong growth over recent years, supported by investments in simulator expansion and training aircraft. Its performance in the previous financial year reflected solid profitability driven by high utilisation of its training centres.

For the Adani Group, which has been steadily increasing its footprint in defence, aerospace, and aviation services, this acquisition would complement existing operations such as aircraft maintenance, drone manufacturing, and strategic defence systems. The group’s earlier purchase of a controlling stake in a major MRO company further highlights its intention to build an integrated aviation services portfolio.

Discussions between the two sides are expected to continue over the coming weeks. If finalised, the deal could reshape India’s pilot training landscape by bringing FSTC’s expertise under one of the country’s largest conglomerates.
