As the national capital gets ready to host the G20 Summit on September 9 and 10, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is taking a lot of steps to keep the air above the city safe. Among these steps is the use of advanced surveillance planes and fighter planes.
The Indian Air Force is going to make it impossible for planes to fly over the main city. This strong defense plan uses monitoring planes called AWACS and cutting-edge fighter planes called Rafale.
A top defense official told India Today that the Air Force also plans to use high-tech air defense missiles like the Medium Range Surface to Air Missile system (MRSAM) and the Akash air defense missile system.
Fighter jets, including Rafales, have been put on high watch at the operational readiness platform level to make sure they can act quickly. The Indian Air Force has also started using air bases in and around the national capital. These include the Hindan air base and stations in Ambala, Bhatinda, Adampur, and Sirsa.
Also, the Indian Air Force will use its own NETRA observation planes to keep a closer eye on things.
Counter-drone systems have been set up all over the national capital to stop any unauthorized use of drones. Civilian organizations are also working together to make sure that security rules for the airspace are strictly followed, which reduces the risk of any violations.
