UP ATS Boosts Arsenal: Upgrading On Par With The Army

The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) is planning to improve its weapons like the Indian Army does.

The ATS is the specialized operational commando team of the UP Police. They do high-risk jobs that require them to keep their weapons up-to-date. The group is getting ready to buy things like radar systems that can see through walls, long-range, high-precision sniper rifles, pump-action shotguns, night-vision drone cameras, night weapon sights, and thermal imaging sniper sights, to name a few.

Special DG of Law and Order, Prashant Kumar, said, “We are doing a market survey to buy specialized weapons, equipment, and accessories that could be used by the special police operation team (SPOT) of UP ATS to strengthen its fighting capabilities during special operations to deal with any unplanned emergency that could be a threat to the people and property of UP.”

Kumar said, “We’ll make ATS a strong state force that can handle high-risk operations.”

Another officer talked about the usefulness of guns and said that the army uses “see-through-wall radar.”

“It can find up to 4-5 people in a room and tell the operator what’s going on in the room, like whether the person is standing or lying down,” he said.

One more is night vision goggles, which are also called passive night vision glasses. Advanced forces use thermal imaging night sights for snipers, along with protective eyewear and body shields.
