India and Russia are talking about making the Pantsir-S1 and Tor-M2KM drones and air defence systems.
The Pantsir-S1 is a short-range air defence system with a lot of mobility. It is meant to protect against a wide range of airborne threats, such as planes, helicopters, drones, and missiles. It has 12 surface-to-air missiles and two 30 mm automatic cannons that can fire up to 2,500 rounds per minute.
The Tor-M2KM is an updated version of the Tor missile system. It can attack a wide range of targets, such as aircraft, helicopters, and precision-guided munitions. The system has many sensors, such as a 3D passive phased-array radar, electro-optical systems, and infrared systems.
During the Aero-India 2023 show in Bangalore, which ran from February 13 to 17, the head of Rosoboronexport, the Russian government agency that handles exports and imports of military products, Alexander Mikheyev, said that Russia is in talks with India about making air defence systems and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Mikheyev said that Russia and India are talking about how to make the Pantsir-S1 and Tor-M2KM air defence systems, Boomerang infantry fighting vehicles, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The report also said that Rosoboronexport is talking with private Indian businesses about the “modernization of heavy military transport aircraft Il-76” and that “Indian partners are interested in Russia’s upgraded military transport aircraft Il-76MD-90A.”
