In a dramatic security operation, authorities in Faridabad, Haryana, have seized nearly 2,500 kilograms of suspected explosive materials from the home of a Jammu and Kashmir-based doctor, sending shockwaves through intelligence and law enforcement circles.
The massive recovery was made following coordinated efforts between the Jammu and Kashmir Police and their counterparts in Haryana, after fresh inputs emerged during the interrogation of Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather. The doctor, who had earlier been detained in connection with a separate arms recovery case, reportedly revealed crucial information that led investigators to his residence in Faridabad.
Upon inspection, police discovered several containers filled with a suspicious chemical substance believed to be used in the manufacturing of explosives. The material has been sent for forensic testing to determine its exact composition and potential threat level.
A senior police official said, “The quantity and nature of the recovered material are alarming. We are investigating whether it was intended for large-scale use or being stored for assembly elsewhere.”
Security agencies have not ruled out links to terror outfits or sleeper cells, given the scale of the recovery and its connection to a suspect already under investigation for arms possession. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and other intelligence units are also expected to join the probe to assess the wider security implications.
Authorities are now tracing the source, supply chain, and intended recipients of the material while tightening surveillance across sensitive zones in northern India. The operation marks one of the biggest recoveries of suspected explosives in the region in recent times and highlights growing concerns over covert terror logistics networks using civilian routes to transport materials.
Further details are awaited as the forensic reports and interrogation findings are being compiled.
