Two Maoists Killed In Encounter With Security Forces In Chhattisgarh’s Bastar

The Chhattisgarh Police said that two Maoists were killed in a shootout with police in Bastar’s Narayanpur area on Saturday.

The police said in a statement on Saturday that there was a gun fight in the forest near Gomagal village, which is in the jurisdiction of the Orchha police station.

On Friday night, a group of security guards, district reserve guards (DRG), Bastar Fighters, and district cops were on an operation against Naxals. “An alert was sent out that ‘Arab’ alias Kamlesh, the secretary of the Nelnar area committee of Maoists, local organization squad (LOS) commander Somdu, and other Maoists were in the area,” the statement read.

Two bodies, a.12-bore gun, and a muzzle-loading gun were found at the scene after the gunfight ended. It has not yet been determined who the dead Naxalites were, and the search is still going on in the surrounding areas, the statement said.

Maoists said in a news release on Friday that two of their leaders were also killed in Sukma’s fight.
