Air Show of IAF’s Suryakiran Aerobatic Team In Guwahati

On Tuesday, September 27, the renowned Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) of the Indian Air Force put on a stunning display over Guwahati. The Lachit Ghat in Assam served as the venue for the ceremony.

Surya Kiran is an Indian Air Force aerobatics demonstration team, also referred to as the IAF Ambassadors. The squad has a unique designation as one of the few nine-aircraft formation aerobatic teams in the world.

Currently, the unit is based at the Assam Air Force Base in Tezpur. Notably, Wing Commander Rupam Bardoloi, a Guwahati native, is a member of the group as well.

The aerobatic performance aims to show off the skill and professionalism of IAF pilots while also developing a sense of patriotism in the young people of the country.

The IAF’s 52nd Squadron includes the SKAT, which was founded in 1996. Since then, the team has, usually with nine planes.

Up till 2011, the squadron used HAL HJT-16 Kiran Mk.2 military training aircraft and had its headquarters at the Bidar Air Force Station in Karnataka. With Hawk Mk-132 aircraft, the team’s operations were resumed in 2017 after being suspended in February 2011. British Aerospace designed and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited produced the Hawk Mk132 in India.

Suryakiran Aerobatic Show in Odisha

At Puri’s Blue Flag Beach in Odisha’s Puri on September 18, the SKAT put on an amazing air show. Nine aircraft performed the air spectacle as they circled the sacred city.

The aerobatic performance aims to show off the skill and professionalism of IAF pilots while also developing a sense of patriotism in the young people of the country.
