Submarine Escape Training Facility ‘Vinetra’ Commissioned At Visakhapatnam

The submarine escape training facility, known as ‘Vinetra’, was inaugurated on September 13, 2024, at INS Satavahana in Visakhapatnam by Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar. He is the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command.

The Sanskrit word “Vinetra” stands for “Trainer” and plays a vital role in securing the safety and preparedness of Indian Navy submariners. Through teaching essential escape procedures for underwater emergencies, this facility enhances the Navy’s safety measures and training facilities.

This cutting-edge facility embodies India’s dedication to self-sufficiency in defence, as highlighted by its indigenous conception and creation as part of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat program.
