During search efforts in the Imphal East and Imphal West districts of Manipur, security forces found four guns, 38 rounds of ammunition, and eight bombs, police said. A statement from the Manipur Police Control Room on Thursday night said that search operations were done in the border and sensitive areas of Imphal East, Imphal West, Kakching, Kangpokpi, and Thoubal districts. During these operations, guns, bullets, and bombs were found by security forces.
“Over the past 24 hours, the situation in the state has been tense, with small groups of protesters getting together here and there,” said the statement.
A total of 123 “nakas” (checkpoints) were set up in different districts of Manipur, both in the hills and in the valleys. The statement also said that 1,581 people were arrested for breaking the law in different districts of the state.
In the statement, people were asked not to accept rumors and not to trust fake videos. It also asked people to turn in stolen weapons, ammunition, and explosives right away to the police or the closest security force.
