A huge search and cordon operation began on Friday in the forests of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. This came a day after a terrorist attack killed five soldiers and hurt two others. An official said that the terrorists who ambushed two Army vehicles in the area Thursday afternoon are also being watched from above, and sniffer dogs have been called in to help find them.
“A massive cordon and search operation has begun this morning after a night cordon in area.”
He said that more soldiers have been sent to the area to find the terrorists who fired the shots.
Officials say that around 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, two army vehicles carrying people to the site of a cordon-and-search operation were attacked at a blind curve on Dhatyar Morh between Dhera Ki Gali and Bufliaz. This area is under the control of the Surankote police station.
The above officer said that the Dhera Ki Gali (DKG) Road is no longer open for traffic. The situation on the ground is being watched by top army and police officials.
