The recently concluded Quad summit, according to a prominent American business advocacy organisation that is focused on India, demonstrated that the four-nation alliance is effectively leveraging the collective strengths and resources of its members.

US President Joe Biden hosted the Quad Leaders’ Summit in Wilmington, Delaware on Saturday, which was attended by Prime Ministers Narendra Modi of India, Fumio Kishida of Japan, and Anthony Albanese of Australia.

The US India Strategic and Partnership Forum (USISPF) stated in a statement on Monday that the summit demonstrated how the Quad is leveraging the collective strengths and resources of all four democracies, including governments, the private sector, and people-to-people relationships, to promote the region’s sustainable development, stability, and prosperity by providing tangible benefits to all individuals in the Indo-Pacific.

The Quad has become more strategically aligned than ever in its mission to secure a free and open Indo-Pacific and uphold a rules-based international order since the grouping was elevated to a leader-level forum four years ago, according to the USISPF.

It was stated that New Delhi, Canberra, Tokyo, and Washington have fortified their diplomatic relations and implemented collaborative initiatives and endeavours in one of the most critical regions on Earth.

“The Quad’s emphasis on critical and emerging technologies, including semiconductors and AI, health security, food security, clean energy, quality infrastructure, and prioritising people-to-people connections through exchanges and educational fellowships, was further solidified by this summit,” the USISPF stated.

The Quad is a force for good, as four democracies have unwaveringly committed to addressing pandemics and diseases, responding to natural disasters, enhancing maritime domain awareness, developing and upgrading physical and digital infrastructure, investing in and leveraging critical and emerging technologies, and combating the threat of climate change,” it added.

The Quad Cancer Moonshot, as announced by the Quad Health Security Partnership, is a collaborative initiative between the four countries. Its initial objective is to combat cervical cancer, a preventable disease that has a significant impact on the lives of individuals in countries throughout the Indo-Pacific region. It was stated that the initiative will establish a foundation for the treatment of other forms of cancer by utilising scientific expertise and public-private sector investments in cancer research.

The new regional Maritime Initiative for Training in the Indo-Pacific (MAITRI) has enabled the Quad countries to increase maritime domain awareness in the region that encompasses the Indian and Pacific Oceans. This initiative will improve interoperability and security in the waters.

“The Quad Indo-Pacific Logistics Network will leverage networks to enhance logistics and support timely responses to natural disasters, as resilient supply chains are a priority for all four Quad countries,” the USISPF stated.

In 2017, the United States, Japan, India, and Australia implemented the long-standing proposal to establish the “Quad” or Quadrilateral coalition in response to China’s aggressive conduct in the Indo-Pacific region.
