The 14th edition of the Indo-US Joint Special Forces exercise, “Vajra Prahar 2023,” ended successfully at the Joint Training Node in Umroi, Meghalaya. This was a big sign of how the two militaries can work together and share their knowledge.

At the end of this joint military operation, US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti sent a message of congratulations and thanks to both the US Army and the Indian Army Special Forces for their hard work.

“Congratulations to @USArmy and @adgpi (India Army) Special Forces on the successful conclusion of the 14th edition of our joint military exercise #VajraPrahar at Umroi, Meghalaya,” stated Garcetti in a post on X.

Ambassador Garcetti emphasized how important it is for the US and India to have these kinds of joint military exercises because they not only take the defense partnership to new heights but also make it easier for both sides to work together by sharing best practices. He gave special thanks to India for hosting this year’s exercise and talked about how their hospitality and willingness to work together made the joint effort a success.

“Joint military exercises between the US and India like these take the partnership between the two countries to a whole new level and make it easier for them to work together by letting them share best practices.” “Thank you very much to India for hosting this year’s exercise,” he wrote in the post.

The Ministry of Defense says that the joint exercise “Vajra Prahar 2023” began at the Joint Training Node, Umroi, in November of this year.

People from the 1st Special Forces Group (SFG) of the US Special Forces were there to represent the US. People from the Eastern Command’s Special Forces led the Indian Army group.

A press release from the ministry said that Exercise Vajra Prahar is a joint event between the Indian Army and the US Army Special Forces.

This is meant to help people share the best ideas and experiences they have in areas like planning joint missions and using operational tactics.

The 13th edition of the Indo-US Joint Special Forces exercise took place at the Special Forces Training School (SFTS), Bakloh (HP). The first edition took place in India in 2010. This year’s event is taking place in Umroi Cantonment, Meghalaya, from November 21 to December 11.

Over the next three weeks, both sides worked together to plan and practice a number of special operations, counter-terrorism operations, and airborne operations in mountainous terrain. The exercises included both realistic and unrealistic scenarios. The release said that some of the most important parts were “Combat free fall insertion of troops from stand-off distances,” “Waterborne insertion of troops,” “Precision engagement of targets at long ranges,” “Combat air control of fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft,” and “Airborne insertion and sustenance of troops.”

Exercise Vajra Prahar has become a way for the Special Forces of both countries to share ideas and the best ways to do things.

The Ministry of Defence says it is also a way for the armies of India and the United States to work together to improve interoperability and defense cooperation.
