Border Talks Commence In Delhi Between India And Nepal Security Forces

India and Nepal’s border guards started their three-day meeting in Delhi on Monday. An official said that they talked about ways to stop crimes that happen across borders and share information more quickly. Rashmi Shukla, director general of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), is leading the Indian group at the seventh annual coordination talks. Inspector General Raju Aryal is in charge of Nepal’s nine-person Armed Police Force (APF) team that is also there.

A person in charge said that the meeting will end on November 8.

An official statement released on Sunday said, “The talks between the two heads of the forces are an important way for both forces to talk about issues related to the border.”

“The SSB and APF delegations aim to strengthen the coordination between the two border guarding forces for more effective management of the open and unfenced India-Nepal border,” it had stated.

The meeting’s main goal will be to create useful tools that will help the troops work together to fight transnational crimes and quickly share important information, according to the statement.

The SSB is an armed central police group that works for the Union Home Ministry. Its job is to watch over the open 1,751 km border between India and Nepal.

These talks happen every year in India and Nepal, switching places every year since 2012.
