India and Japan are going to do a joint air exercise called “Veer Guardian-2023” from January 12 to 26 at the Hyakuri Air Base in Japan. The goal is to work together on air defence.

“The Indian Air Force and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) are going to hold a joint air exercise called “Veer Guardian-2023” at Hyakuri Air Base in Japan from January 12 to January 26, 2023. This is to help the two countries work together on air defence “In a statement, the Ministry of Defense said this.

Four Su-30 MKIs, two C-17s, and one IL-78 will be part of the Indian group taking part in the air exercise. In the meantime, the JASDF will take part with four F-2 and four F-15 planes.

During the second 2+2 Foreign and Defense Ministerial meeting, which took place in Tokyo, Japan, on September 8, 2022, India and Japan agreed to increase their defence cooperation and hold more military drills, including the first joint fighter jet drills. This shows how much the two countries are working together on security.

This exercise will be another way for the two countries to strengthen their strategic ties and work together on defence.

“During the first exercise, the two Air Forces will practise fighting in the air in different ways. They will fight in the air across multiple domains in a complicated environment and share best practises “the government said.

Experts from both sides will also talk to share what they know about different parts of operations. Exercise “Veer Guardian” will strengthen the long-standing friendship between the two Air Forces and open up more ways for them to work together on defence.

In February and March of 2018, both countries took part in Exercise DHARMA GUARDIAN-2022. This is an annual exercise between the Indian Army and the Japanese Ground Self Defense Force at the Foreign Training Node in Belgaum.
