IAF’s Tejas Aircraft Crashes Near Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer; Pilot Safely Ejects

On Tuesday, an Indian Air Force Tejas plane crashed near Jaisalmer while it was on an active training mission. Before the crash, the pilot got out of the plane safely.

“An Indian Air Force Tejas plane had an accident today at Jaisalmer while it was on an operational training mission.” The driver jumped out safely. “A Court of Inquiry has been set up to find out what went wrong,” the Indian Air Force said in a statement.

The light combat planes The Tejas is a fast airplane made in India. The Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) program was started by the Indian government in 1984. It led to the creation of the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) to oversee its growth.

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited was in charge of designing and building the plane. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who was Prime Minister at the time, publicly named the plane “Tejas” in 2003. The name means “radiance” in Sanskrit. It is HAL’s second supersonic fighter jet. The first one was the HAL HF-24 Marut.

A Hawk trainer plane from the Indian Air Force had a crash earlier this month while it was on a training mission in West Bengal. The plane went down in a residential area close to the Kalaikunda Air Force Station. But no one was hurt or killed, and no private property was damaged. Both pilots got out of the plane safely.
