IAF Chief Meets Ivorian Air Force Commander for Defence Cooperation Talks

India and Côte d’Ivoire have taken another step towards strengthening bilateral defence cooperation following high-level discussions between senior defence officials of both countries in New Delhi.

Air Major General Koffi N’Guessan Alfred, Chief of Air Staff of the Côte d’Ivoire Air Force, held talks with Indian defence leadership during his visit, including Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh. The discussions focused on enhancing defence engagement and identifying opportunities for deeper military cooperation.

The Ministry of Defence stated that both sides exchanged views on strengthening existing defence relations and exploring new areas of collaboration. The visit reflects the growing importance of India’s defence diplomacy with African nations and its efforts to build long-term strategic partnerships.

The interaction between the two air forces comes amid India’s expanding engagement with friendly countries through training initiatives, capability development programmes and defence cooperation frameworks. India has been increasingly sharing its expertise in military training, operational experience and indigenous defence solutions with partner nations.

For Côte d’Ivoire, cooperation with India offers opportunities to enhance the capabilities of its armed forces through greater interaction, knowledge exchange and potential collaboration in areas related to aviation, maintenance support and defence training.

India has been strengthening its presence in Africa through increased defence outreach, including military exchanges, joint exercises, humanitarian assistance and participation in regional security initiatives. The country has also been promoting its indigenous defence manufacturing sector and offering defence equipment solutions to friendly nations.

The meeting between Indian and Ivorian defence officials underlines the shared interest of both countries in expanding security cooperation and developing stronger institutional ties. The engagement is expected to contribute towards deeper defence relations between India and Côte d’Ivoire in the coming years.
