Story Highlights
  • "Ex-Yudh Abyas-2023" will give both forces a chance to learn from each other and make the bonds between them even stronger.
  • The two armies will share best practices and improve their ability to work together as part of the exercise.

A statement from the U.S. government said on Sunday that the 19th “Exercise Yudh Abhyas” is about to start there.

The formal statement said that it will happen from September 25 to October 8, 2023, in Fort Wainwright, Alaska, USA.

The Indian Army and the United States Army do this practice together every year.

The ‘Yudh Abhyas’ took place in Auli, Uttarakhand, in 2022.

“A contingent of 350 people from the Indian Army will take part in this version of the Exercise. The Maratha Light Infantry Regiment is in charge of the lead unit on the Indian side. On the US side, the 1-24 Infantry Battalion of the 1st Brigade Combat Team will take part. Both sides will do a number of tactical drills to make it easier for them to work together on UN peacekeeping missions. “Personnel from both sides will also have in-depth talks to share their experiences and the best ways to do things,” said the statement.

“The theme of the Exercise is “Employment of an Integrated Battle Group in Mountain/Extreme Climatic Conditions” under Chapter VII of the United Nations mandate,” it said.

The schedule will also include a “Command Post Exercise” and “Expert Academic Discussions” on certain themes. The Field Training Exercise will test the Integrated Battle Groups against hostile forces at the Brigade level, the Integrated Surveillance Grid at the Brigade/Battalion level, the use of Heliborne/Airborne elements and Force Multipliers, logistics and casualty management during operations, evacuation and combat medical aid, and other things that apply to High Altitude Areas and Extreme Climatic Conditions, the statement said.

“Ex-Yudh Abyas-2023” will give both forces a chance to learn from each other and make the bonds between them even stronger.

This week, the Indian Army went on ‘X’ to talk about the Yudh Abhyas 2023.

“A group from the Indian Army will take part in the 19th Yudh Abhyas military exercise at Fort Wainwright, Alaska, USA. The two armies will share best practices and improve their ability to work together as part of the exercise. This will help both armies learn from each other and build the relationship between them, according to a tweet from the Indian Army on X.
