Dismissed Major Seeks Legal Relief: Moves Armed Forces Tribunal

An Army Major who was fired by the President using special powers has gone to the main bench of the Armed Forces Tribunal to ask for help.
The Major was fired on September 15 under section 18 of the Army Act, 1950, because he was accused of having secret information and being in touch with a foreign intelligence agent. He was also being questioned about these claims.
It is thought that six more officers, including a Brigadier, have been given warnings to explain why they should not be punished or given administrative action.
The hearing for the petition is set for this week. It asks for a certified copy of the court of inquiry procedures against the Major. Also, it wants forensic data on all of the digital devices that were taken from him before the investigation.
