Security Forces Neutralize 6 Naxalites, Including 2 Women, In Bijapur Encounter

In a fight with police on Wednesday in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur area, six Naxalites were killed, two of them women. Earlier today, there was a fight in the area between security forces and Naxalites. Six bodies of the Naxalites were later found.

The shooting happened in the jungle near Chipurbhatti village, along the Taperu river, according to Sundarraj P, Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range). This is in the area that is under the control of the Basaguda police station. The meeting took place while a group of security guards were on an anti-Naxal mission.

After the fight, Vijay Sharma, Chhattisgarh’s Deputy Chief Minister, said that the operation was done because Naxals killed three farmers.

“The bodies of six naxals were found after a police operation. This happened after three villagers were killed by naxals.” He said, “More search operations are under way.”

The operation included members of the elite unit CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action), the District Reserve Guard (DRG), and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). It was based on information that Naxalites from Maoist People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) platoon no. 10 were in the area. The IG Sundarraj said.

He also said that after the fighting stopped, there was a search operation, and the bodies of the six Naxalites, two of whom were women, were found. The IG also said that a huge amount of guns and explosives were found at the scene.

“The identity of the dead Naxalites is yet to be ascertained,” he said.

The IG also said that many other Naxalites were hurt in the shootout and that the search was still going on.

The District of Bijapur is in the constituency of Bastar for the Lok Sabha. The first part of voting will happen on April 19.
