BrahMos Will Be Our Primary Weapon Now,” Says Navy Chief After ₹ 19,000 Crore Deal Cleared By Centre

Monday, Chief Admiral R. Hari Kumar of the Indian Navy said that the BrahMos fast cruise missile would replace the old missile system that the Indian Navy had bought from other countries as its main weapon.

This has changed over time in terms of its range, skills, abilities to kill, and other things. The BrahMos is being put in place because this is going to be the mainstay for a while. All the old weapons are being replaced with it. “Now we have the skills to put it together very quickly,”

The head of the Navy said that the BrahMos missile is “a great advantage” because it is made in India.

“It is a very powerful missile, and it has been getting better over time in terms of range and other things.” The fact is that it’s made in India means we don’t have to count on anyone else. It can be fixed, and extra parts are easy to find. “So that’s a big plus,” he said.

The Navy head spoke soon after the Cabinet Committee on Security approved the ₹ 19,000 crore deal to buy more than 200 BrahMos missiles. The deal is set to be signed on March 5.

During the closing event of the Defense expo in Pune, the Navy Chief said this.

The head of the Navy said, “This is a one-of-a-kind show.” They were able to get a number of MSMEs to work together… We need to work hard to create the right ecosystem and setting for indigenous people to live here. Defense Expos make this easier and promote local industry… These kinds of MSME expos are very important. There are now more than 118 contracts signed, and 10 to 12 goods have also been passed. We get a lot of things from small businesses and new businesses.

Small and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs), private companies, Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) labs, and Defence Public Sector Unit (DPSU) setups in Maharashtra all took part in the Defense Week. This showed India’s success toward achieving “Atmanirbharta” in the area of defense and bringing together the needs of the armed forces, research and development, and production of defense goods by both public and private companies.
