Army, Assam Rifles Conduct Joint Operations In Manipur, Recovering 26 Weapons

Over the last week, the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, and other security forces have recovered 26 weapons, ammunition, and warlike supplies through joint operations.
On October 7, the Indian Army and Manipur Police jointly conducted an operation in the Gelbung area of Bishnupur district. The forces seized a 9mm carbine machine gun, an AK-47 rifle, a 12-bore single-barrel rifle, a 12-bore pistol, 2.5 kilograms of improvised explosive devices (IED), ammunition, grenades, and other war-related items. Another operation on the same day in Kangvai, Churachandpur district, resulted in the recovery of two country-made mortars, two pistols, grenades, and additional supplies.
The next day, October 8, the Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched an operation in Imphal West’s Khelakhong area. After conducting extensive searches in the area, the forces discovered a 7.62 mm self-loading rifle (SLR), a.303 rifle, a 9mm pistol, grenades, and other materials.
On October 9, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police conducted a joint operation in the Champai area of Sagolmang, Imphal East, resulting in the recovery of an M16 rifle, two SLRs, a.22 rifle, a country-made Sten gun, two carbines, eight 9mm country-made pistols, ammunition and grenades.
The Indian Army emphasized the value of collaboration in these operations, with a spokesperson stating that “seamless cooperation between the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and local law enforcement agencies has been key in ensuring the security of the region.” The spokesperson added that the army is still committed to maintaining peace and stability in Manipur through continued collaboration with local forces.
