Pakistan Defence Minister Signals Real Risk of Conflict with India, Promises Stronger Response

Khawaja Asif asserts Pakistan is prepared to face any potential future conflict with India, aiming for a “better outcome” than previous confrontations.

In a stark warning that has drawn international attention, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif stated that the likelihood of a military conflict with India is real, claiming that Islamabad is ready to respond decisively if tensions escalate.

Speaking at a recent press briefing, Asif emphasized Pakistan’s preparedness, noting that the armed forces have learned from past conflicts and are now positioned to secure a more favorable outcome in the event of hostilities. “If a confrontation arises, Pakistan will ensure a stronger and more effective response than before,” he asserted.

Asif’s comments come amid ongoing strains in Indo-Pak relations, particularly around border disputes and regional security issues. Analysts suggest that such statements are intended to reinforce Pakistan’s strategic posture and deter perceived threats.

The Defence Minister further criticized India’s policies, describing them as destabilizing for regional peace. While he refrained from specifying any immediate military action, his statements underline Pakistan’s commitment to defending its sovereignty.

Experts note that although rhetoric between the two nuclear-armed neighbors remains intense, the likelihood of a full-scale war remains low due to diplomatic, economic, and international pressures. However, such statements contribute to heightened alertness in military and political circles across South Asia.

With both nations maintaining significant military capabilities along contested borders, observers continue to stress the importance of dialogue and confidence-building measures to prevent escalation.
