On Sunday evening, a senior officer led a four-member National Investigation Agency team to the terror attack site in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, where a doctor and six construction workers were killed.

According to sources with knowledge of the situation, the Jammu and Kashmir police will receive assistance from the NIA Jammu branch, which is led by a Superintendent of Police (SP) rank officer, in the investigation of the terror attack. It is probable that the investigation will be transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

The attack was claimed by the terrorist group ‘The Resistance Front (TRF),’ which is an offshoot of the Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The horror was orchestrated by its chief, Sheikh Sajjad Gul.

The terrorists fired upon a camp that was housing workers who were engaged in the construction of the Z-Morh tunnel, which is currently under construction and connects Gaganeer to Sonamarg in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal.

In recent years, the Ganderbal district, which has been historically considered a tranquil region, has experienced its first instances of targeting non-locals. The district has remained relatively tranquil, and the region where gunfire erupted today has been at peace for the past 10-15 years.

The area has been cordoned off by security personnel from the Central Reserve Police Forces (CRPF) and local police officials in the wake of the terror attack that occurred last evening.

After the militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) claimed responsibility for the attack that killed seven civilians in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Sunday evening, former Jammu and Kashmir DGP Shesh Paul Vaid on Monday criticized Pakistan’s “Deep State.”

Vaid wrote in an X post, “How could the deep state of Pakistan tolerate some icebreaking vibes coming from the recent visit of @DrSJaishankar to the SCO meeting in Islamabad and handshaking/smiling pictures with Pakistan PM Shahbaz Sharif?”

“A significant number of our supporters hold Modi accountable for his failure to engage in dialogue with Pakistan.” How could the government relentlessly pursue development projects and the people of J&K vote fearlessly? He also stated, “Understand who is attempting to undermine this.”
